Western Wyoming Community College Summer Theatre presents its production of the play Glengarry Glen Ross by David Mamet. A no-host bar will be available with alcoholic beverages for sale.
Mamet’s play Glengarry Glen Ross won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1984. It presents parts of two days in the lives of four desperate Chicago real estate agents who are prepared to engage in any number of unethical, illegal acts—from lies and flattery to bribery, threats, intimidation and burglary—to sell undesirable real estate to unwitting prospective buyers. The title comes from two real estate properties mentioned in the play: Glengarry Highlands, which is currently the prime real estate everyone is attempting to sell, and Glen Ross Farms, which is mentioned by several characters as having been very lucrative for those selling it several years ago. The play is based on Mamet's own experience of having previously worked in a similar office.
The Western production features four colleagues performing together for the first time since their student days. WWCC Performing Arts Professor Chris Will is joined by LCCC Theatre Professor Jason Pasqua; John O’Hagan, Associate Professor of Theatre at Principia College in Illinois; and Rawlins High School drama teacher, Brandon Taylor. Both O’Hagan and Taylor are members of Actors’ Equity Association. Three WWCC theatre students will also be featured in the cast.
This production is rated R as it contains adult language and is not appropriate for audience members under 18.
